Job Summary:

 

Under general supervision, manages execution and timely completion of engineering projects by analyzing project scope and determining project specifications, establishing test programs for product investigations, analyzing test programs for adequacy and sequence, examining samples for compliance with UL requirements, and preparing reports for clients.  Assists in the development of UL requirements, test methods, and test equipment. May exercise Project Handler Signature Authority as Project Handler of record responsible for opening, maintenance, completion, and closing of assigned new work engineering projects. May exercise Review Signature Authority as assigned as Reviewer of record responsible for initial review, status review, and final technical review of all new work engineering projects.

 

Job Responsibility:

·        Act as the primary client interface and be responsible for the entire project execution.

·        Communicates with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL Environment procedures and requirements, and negotiate project plans.  Acts to address client concerns and to resolve client issues.

·        Responsible for managing client projects from beginning to end by obtaining necessary information from the client, coordinating project testing with the appropriate laboratories, communicating with environmental experts, and ultimately being accountable for meeting and exceeding project milestones and client expectations.

·        Evaluates products to determine compliance with environmental standards.  This includes examining the product, reviewing product and manufacturing documentation, creating test requests for laboratories, evaluating test results, and preparing checklists for on-site audits of manufacturers.

·        Communicates project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.  Constantly strives to exceed customer expectations.

·        Performs research on various product categories to understand environmental impacts, major manufacturing processes, typical material uses and other aspects of manufacturing for different industries.

·        As a fast-paced and growing company, the environmental project manager will be responsible for performing many other tasks as required.

·        Performs other duties as directed.

 

Required Skills:

·        1 - 5 years of experience in a sustainability, environmental product design, environmental product testing, or project management role

·        Strong project management skills and the ability to interface directly with clients

·        Ability to understand technical environmental concepts, such as test methods, chemicals and material data

·        University Degree (Bachelor's degree) in Environmental Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program
