Description:
BJAAM Environmental, Inc. (BJAAM) is pleased to present this entry level, full time, opportunity for a qualified candidate to start employment in the environmental field as an "Environmental Technician". BJAAM is located in Canal Fulton, Ohio, about twenty minutes southwest of Akron. This is a full time position with benefits as described below.
This opportunity requires some overnight travel, a physically capable individual with a valid Ohio drivers license (without restrictions), and a residence within fifty miles of the office (i.e., the later within thirty days after hire). BJAAM also requires initial OSHA health and safety training per CFR1910.120, medical monitoring, and complete compliance with a Drug Free Workplace Policy prior to permanent placement. Additional requirements and qualifications are described below.
Purpose:
To gather field data for use in Risk Based Corrective Actions (RBCA) activities at petroleum underground storage tank (UST) sites and also in brownfield redevelopment investigations under Ohio EPA's Voluntary Action Program (VAP). The majority of the projects are regulated under Ohio BUSTR Regulation - OAC§1301:7-9-13 ( http://www.com.ohio.gov/fire/bustMain.aspx). Additional work tasks may be assigned related to oil/gas leasing, marketing, and pre-drilling water quality protection.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree or higher in environmental science, geology or human health (not biology). Practical work experience during an internship or record of non-related employment (with references) is required.
Duties:
Job duties include but are not limited to:
*site surveying, rig geologist duties, and monitoring well installation;
*aquifer characterization, free product recovery, soil/groundwater sampling/preservation/chain of custody;
*site characterization and utility locating;
*determining chemical composition and nature of land pollutants by collecting and analyzing water, soil, silt, and mud;
*maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;
*maintaining the stability and reputation of the organization by complying with legal and waste management requirements;
*conserving resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results;
*participating in oil and gas leasing efforts at landowner meetings/presentations and related sales efforts; and
*contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
