Experienced Microwave Radio Technician / Installer

 

 

WIS is currently looking for experienced microwave radio technicians/installers with the following experience and qualifications:

 

Experience Requirements

·          Microwave, DSX, MUX, DC power equipment installation

·          Cable ladders / cable trays installation

·          Cross connecting circuits on DSX panels

·          ENG, camera and broadcast equipment installation

·          Familiarity / experience performing RF/microwave related tests utilizing a full array of RF microwave laboratory equipment

·          Data/telecom electronic equipment.

·          Wire-wrapping

·          IP Networking

·          Experience working in frequency ranges from 2-23 GHz

·          Experience and comfortable working around DC and AC power (110VAC, 220VAC)

·          Troubleshooting, and evaluating data related to RF/microwave systems

·          Preparing install reports, troubleshooting documentation and turn up documentation

·          Preparing / developing path engineering

·          Preparing BOM's, schematics, rack layout, or system flow chart diagrams

·          Experience with “hot cuts” in a high traffic/high risk environment.

·          Experience with television, broadcast, and ENG systems, satellite, camera, modems, encoder, HD/NTSC, DC power -48V, +24V battery backup / UPS systems, BTS equipment a plus

 

Knowledge / Skill / Certification Requirements

·          Telco and interconnect systems

·          Digital data transmission

·          Experience and ability to investigate electronic system RF/microwave susceptibilities to frequency, modulation, and aspect angle

·          Experience with Alcatel, Harris, NEC microwave radios.  Certification a plus.

·          Ability to analyze RF and microwave performance for antenna/source/transmission line and RF systems

·          Ability to install, configure, integrate and test ENG equipment

·          Ability to assist in the preparation of install reports, troubleshooting documentation and turn up documentation

·          Ability to read schematics and various components

·          Possess and maintain a working knowledge / understanding of:

o         Test equipment including spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, BER testers, frequency counters, network analyzers, and RF line sweep equipment.

·          Certified and/or proven experience installing, testing, troubleshooting, and upgrading:

o         Microwave radios, particularly:  Harris Constellation, Harris TRuepoint, Alcatel MDR8000, Alcatel 9500, NEC NLite

o         ENG systems particularly: NuComm, BMS, NSI, MRC and Troll

 

Other Requirements

·          Standard hand tools, general assembly techniques, and blueprint interpretation

·          Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and various other computer software.

·          Attention to detail, problem solving, time management and strong organizational and multi-tasking skills required

·          Tower-climbing experience preferred

 

Preferred Industry Training and Certifications

First Aid / CPR, RF Site Safety, Tower Safety and Rescue certified, Coax and Connector training, Microwave training, radio experience (see above), Line Sweep certification, OSHA 10-hr, and other safety and/or industry-related certifications a plus.
