Job Summary: 

Under general direction, organizes, monitors, and supervise the campus exterior maintenance operations.  Performs a variety of technical tasks relative to landscape operations.

Essential Job Duties:

• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of campus landscape maintenance operations.
  
• Lawn, shrubbery, tree, and plant maintenance.  To be coordinated with landscape contractor, as well as self performed work.
  
• Participate in the preparation and administration of the landscape, interior plants, and snow removal budgets.  Submit budget recommendations, monitor expenses.
  
• Perform the most technical and complex tasks of the landscape work unit.
  
• Prepare annual landscape recommendation plan.  Present with budget assumptions.
  
• Maintain records and landscape/sprinkler plans, to keep documents current.
  
• Coordinate with contractors in providing contract services; solicit and collect bids for contracted maintenance work.
  
• Participate in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  
• Manage winter snow removal program for campus.
  
• Manage interior plant program.
  
• Perform related duties as required.

Other Job Functions:

• Assistance with interior projects as time permits.
  
• On call 24 hours per day for emergency services.

Skills, Education And Experience:

Education:  Four year degree in horticulture, or related field preferred.

Experience:  Three years of increasingly responsible landscape maintenance experience including some supervisory experience.

Knowledge in:  Principles and practices of proper landscape maintenance.  Principles and practices of safety management.  Principles of landscape irrigation and horticulture.  Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers, and applicable software applications such as word processing, and spreadsheets.

Ability to:  Organize, implement, and direct exterior maintenance operations and activities.  Develop cost estimates for equipment and operations.  Read and interpret maps, plans, sketches, a schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.  Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.  Perform the most complex maintenance duties, and operate related equipment.  Develop and recommend systems and procedures related to exterior maintenance.
