External Reporting & Accounting Policy Associate

Huron provides services to a wide variety of both financially sound and distressed organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, medium-sized businesses, leading academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and the law firms that represent these various organizations. - Responsible for assisting in the preparation and filing of the company's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, including:
- Prepare the company's quarterly reports on Form 10-Q and annual reports on Form 10-K
- Validate and ensure accuracy of financial data provided by other departments
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with US GAAP and are in compliance with the rules and regulations of the SEC
- Address and resolve comments provided by independent auditors and senior management
- EDGARize filings and transmit electronically to the SEC
- Collaborate with and assist other departments in drafting other SEC filings and external financial reports including:
- Quarterly earnings release and accompanying financial schedules
- The company's Annual Report and Proxy Statement
- Current reports on Form 8-K and Registration Statements
- Assist in accounting and regulatory research
- Keep current with accounting and regulatory developments within the FASB, SEC and other accounting and regulatory bodies
- Research, analyze, interpret and implement new accounting pronouncements and SEC reporting matters
- Collaborate with employees from other departments and the company's independent auditors to ensure proper accounting for unusual or complicated transactions and implementation of new accounting pronouncements, including drafting accounting policy memos to document basis and conclusion
- Assist with special accounting and finance projects including those relating to acquisitions, international operations and equity-based plans
- BS/BA degree with a major in accounting required
- Licensed as a CPA required
- 4-6 years experience - combination of public accounting with publicly traded audit clients, i.e. Big 4/National firm or blend of public accounting and industry external/SEC reporting experience required
- Prior experience with SEC reporting(10K, 10Q, Annual Report, footnotes, earnings release), etc preferred
- Working knowledge of US GAAP required and SEC reporting regulations preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, including the ability to interact effectively with other departments and independent auditors
