About the Job

The Financial Reporting Initiative (FRI) Program is a global Pfizer initiative tasked with the primary objective of delivering segmented balance sheet results in order to support the external reporting disclosures associated with Pfizer’s business units: Pfizer Essential Health and Pfizer Innovative Health, comprised of the legacy Global Innovative Pharma (GIP), Global Vaccines, Oncology and Consumer businesses. The initiative also generates the financial information necessary to support strategic decision making by segmenting and collecting financial statement data for the income statement and cash flow statement.  The FRI Program is transitioning from a project to a Center of Excellence (CoE) and this role will be based in the CoE.

The FRI CoE Experienced Staff Accountant will have responsibility for supporting selected areas within the FRI COE Analytics and Reporting Team,  which is responsible for Financial Reporting Initiative reporting and analysis globally.

In order to support the global segmentation process, the FRI CoE Experienced Staff will collaborate cross-functionally within GFS and others, as necessary, to drive the timely creation of program deliverables, achieve program objectives, and ensure FRI responsibilities are fulfilled. This role will also require collaboration to support the on-going activities and initiatives of Pfizer as a whole in support of the OnePfizer mentality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA eligible
  • 3+ years of relevant functional accounting or finance experience
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Key ERP and edge system experience preferred

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Intermediate accounting and financial reporting skills
  • Intermediate SAP and HFM knowledge preferred
  • Excellent oral, written and overall communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems
  • Strong business acumen and professionalism with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues in all functions and levels
  • ERP system experience preferred
  • Proficiency in PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Some of the key position responsibilities are:

  • Prepare FRI analytical package and ensure resolution of related questions
  • Perform review of flux and anomaly responses
  • Perform testing of balances related to Corporate, consolidations, enabling and other business units as necessary to ensure an accurate FRI analytical package
  • Research and resolve discrepancies and accounting issues as necessary
  • Identify issues proactively and communicate to manager along with a potential range of solutions
  • Compile metrics and ad-hoc reports as requested
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures, desktop instructions and related internal control documentation to ensure processes are documented and controls are effective
  • Participate in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and monitor the impact on FRI to ensure methodologies and SOPs/desktop instructions are updated accordingly
  • Seek opportunities to participate in site activities
