Position Description:
Qualified and highly motivated individual with a strong construction background to manage material fabrication shop. Plan, prepare, and deliver materials to ensure that field crews have the materials and tools needed to complete successful projects. Work closely with Design Engineers, Project Managers, Project Foreman and Superintendents and Accounting personnel. Ideal candidate would have a strong background in heavy civil infrastructure construction and/or building construction.
- Manage and ensure efficient, organized operations
- Motivate, train and develop a productive, cohesive team
- Plan and assign resources based on business demands
- Manage location and flow of materials
- Develop and maintain a real time inventory management system
- Pre-job planning of materials and supplies
- Perform detailed material takeoffs utilizing plan drawings
- Purchase materials
- Ensure allocation of labor that maximizes productivity
- Closely monitor hours and dollars to control costs
- Ensure that staff are continually trained in product knowledge and yard operation in compliance with corporate standards
- Knowledge of safety regulations to ensure compliance and safe working practices
Position Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of construction field operations including, concrete formwork means and methods, required tools and supplies and project scheduling
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong leadership skills to effectively manage a diverse team and achieve results
- Strong analytical skills, technical proficiency and effective problem solving skills
- Facilitate projects and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Organized team leader able to work independently in a results-driven, fast-paced environment
