MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN.

JOB DESCRIPTION



Individual will be
responsible to perform day-to-day maintenance and operational tasks in support
of the Baltimore Data Center. Responsibilities include inspection, preventive/predictive
maintenance and reacting to unplanned maintenance needs for production
equipment. Individual will be responsible for general maintenance of utilities,
buildings and grounds. Individual will plan, organize and oversee the work of various
contractors within the facility. Individual will collaboratively assist with the
development and enhancement of the facility maintenance methods and procedures.
Individual will be involved with various internal and customer projects on an
as needed basis.



 



DUTIES



·       
Perform a variety of activities related to repair
and maintenance of all aspects of the physical plant, with an emphasis on
electrical systems.



·       
Perform preventive/predictive maintenance per
requirements and perform non-scheduled or emergency maintenance when required
to support operations.



·       
Maintain accurate records with regard to annual
inspection of equipment and general preventative maintenance.



·       
Analyze and solve electrical and mechanical
problems which cause interruptions or otherwise limit productive capacity of
equipment.



·       
Perform basic electrical repairs and hard wiring
installation of 120/240 Volt single phase circuits and 208 Volt 3 phase
circuits.



·       
Perform basic CAT5 wiring and cabling within Data
Center and customer premise locations.



·       
Be available outside of normal business hours to
react to facility maintenance situations.



·       
Maintain inventory of equipment and repair parts
lists for electrical installations to ensure proper maintenance and installations
are accomplished on time.



·       
Perform repairs on UPS, HVAC, motors, controls, plumbing,
exhaust fans and similar equipment. 
Calibrate all controls for heating and air conditioning.



·       
Make recommendations to modify or replace equipment
when necessary to support demand or improve efficiency.



·       
Organize and direct the work of maintenance or
installation contractors when required.



·       
Perform all work in a manner that conforms to
accepted safety practices.



·       
Maintain work area and equipment in clean, orderly
and safe condition.



·       
Shovel snow and perform other grounds keeping
duties as assigned.



·       
Advise the Facilities Director on the
implementation of an effective preventive maintenance plan for electrical
systems.



·       
Participate and perform on an as needed basis remodeling,
redecorating, or other repair and maintenance activities such as painting, carpentry,
caulking and sealing, pouring and finishing cement, brick pointing, installing
shelves and  like tasks as  assigned.



·       
Assist in mechanical maintenance and other
Buildings and Grounds function as assigned.



·       
Assume all other reasonable professional duties and
responsibilities as assigned by the Facilities Director.



 



QUALIFICATIONS



·       
2 or 4 year college degree or technical institution
diploma or equivalent.



·       
Minimum 3 years experience is preferred in the
maintenance of production equipment. Basic knowledge and experience with electrical
systems, simple controls and mechanical systems is required.



·       
Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC
equipment a plus.



·       
Ability to read, comprehend and work from technical
documents, blueprints and electrical schematics.



·       
Strong problem solving and decision making skills.



 



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



·       
Lifting - Frequently lifts light weight items, and
occasionally lifts heavy weight materials such as equipment parts.



·       
Bending/Twisting - Frequent bending and twisting to
work on equipment and to pick up parts or materials.



·       
Walking - Continuous walking throughout facility as
well as to and from shop and material storage areas.



·       
Climbing - Occasional climbing of stairs and
various types of ladders.



·       
Reaching - Occasional reaching to operate machine
tools and to work on equipment.



·       
Pulling/Pushing - Occasional pulling and pushing to
move, position, and align machines and equipment.



·       
Standing - Continuously on feet, but normally not
in any one position.



·       
Manual Dexterity - Dexterity required to operate
tools, to work on equipment and to do equipment installations.



·       
Vision - Must be able to visually observe the
operation and repair of machines and equipment and be able to move safely about
the plant. Also prepares records and reads instruments.



·       
Hearing - Must be able to hear emergency alarm
systems. Must be able to hear supervisory instructions and communicate with
job-related personnel.



·       
Must be able to climb and balance oneself on a
ladder, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl into tight places as required.
