Job Description:

Drive the applications engineering activities that support sales, quality assurance, purchasing and continuous improvement activities from a technical business development standpoint

·         Manage and support fastener related issues and assist the customer in solving joint problems

·         Manage and support the development of fastener applications

·         Manage and support customer technical objectives

·         Manage and support cost and timing information

·         Manage and support the customer fastener release process

·         Manage and follow up of a new project development plans and ensure the project proceeds as scheduled including communication to customer and team about the progress and status

·         Support bill of material part count – propose standardization possibilities – reporting of simplified bill of material cost

·         Depending on assignment or project, on-site support can be required at customer branches

·         Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases

·         Coordinate technical developments and scheduling.  Resolve engineering design and test problems.  Investigate, analyze, and report field failures to user

·         Make technical part description information available to the customer as required and control its use by the customer through education and monitoring

·         Develop or provide useful design aids, data charts, product drawings and other technical materials for use by customer to aid in the design, selection, and use of supplied products

 

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in the Technical or Engineering Field

·         Minimum 3+ years fastener experience, preferably in the automotive industry

·         Good mechanical knowledge; ability to work independently; customer-focused

·         Team oriented and stress resistant

·         Working ability with common computer application software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel

·         Database and Catia V5 experience preferred

·         Applicant must have the ability to interpret mechanical design prints, specifications and other technical documents

·         Must have the ability to use common measurement tools and knowledge of dimensional measurement techniques related to fasteners and related assembly components

·         Must be familiar with mechanical testing methods and procedures related to fasteners; mechanical assembly methods and tools; mechanical joint design and hardware attachment methods; and familiarity with wide range of fasteners and their intended uses

·         Knowledge of materials, processing and coatings commonly used for fasteners is also required

 

Additional Qualifications:

·         Must have a strong ability to communicate and interact with customers and suppliers and have a willingness to travel and work necessary hours

·         Must be able to work in a team environment and have the ability to handle the stress of meeting demanding deadlines for completing job tasks and projects

·         Must be able to read and understand various technical journals

·         Have excellent technical, oral, and written presentation skills

·         Be proficient in algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and basic statistics

·         Be familiar with certain applications of calculus

·         Interpret oral, written, and pictorial instructions and solve problems having multiple variables

The person must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and pull using arms and hands with a force of 50 pounds.

 

Additional Information:

·         This is a Direct Hire Full Time Position

·         Regular travel to local customer facilities

·         Extended travel for training purposes both domestic and internationally may apply
