Reports To: Federal Government Business Team Leader
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for cultivating business opportunities within the Federal Government Market Sector by developing, leading, and managing client relations with key Federal Government clientele, primarily with the Department of Defense. This position is also responsible for overseeing architectural and project management
personnel to ensure results meet client and office expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative:
• Act a mentor for the Federal Government Business Team by taking an active role in the development of personnel
• Assist the Federal Government Business Team Leader in determining the personnel needs for the Government Business Team and individual projects based upon the current and projected workload; convey personnel needs to the Director of promotions, and transfers
• Review the performance and work quality of personnel and conduct evaluations on an annual basis or as needed
• Collaborate with Project Managers in evaluating scope, complexity, and scheduling requirements of projects; validate work planning strategies to ensure successful project execution
Business Development:
• Assist the Federal Government Business Team Leader in the evaluation and go/nogo process for solicitations for AE services
• Participate in the SF330 response to active pursuits in collaboration with marketing staff and project personnel
• Actively pursue relationships with partnering firms in pursuit of federal business opportunities; these may include large or small businesses as well as design or construction firms
Project Execution:
• Provide supervision of project teams and assist as necessary to ensure performance of quality, financial, and strategic goals
• Assist the Director of Quality Assurance by monitoring and reviewing the technical quality of documents produced by the Government Business Team in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures
• Assist project management in contract negotiations, client relations, and motivation and inspiration of team personnel
• Perform other duties as assigned or instructed
Required Skills and Competencies:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Working knowledge of Federal fee proposals, negotiations, and contract/subcontract administration
• Excellent skills in managing and developing relationships with clients and consultants.
• Effective time management and organizational skills; ability to become involved and promote a number of past, present and future business opportunities
• Ability to maintain good working relations with management staff, coworkers, and direct reports; ability to establish and retain high morale with department personnel through frequent communication and interaction; ability to inspire, motivate and lead by example
• Strong entrepreneurial spirit with desire to grow the Government Business Team and to maintain the recognition

Education and License Requirements:
• Minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering
• Registration as a Professional Architect or Engineer required
• Minimum 10 - 20 years of experience in the A/E industry with progressive management and leadership responsibilities
• LEED® Accredited or ability to obtain accreditation upon selection
