Job Responsibilities
Customer, production, and engineering support for Government Communications-on-the-move (COTM) SATCOM systems. COTM systems include airborne, maritime, and vehicle mounted SATCOM terminals and hub- site equipment. Support the production, test and deployment of COTM SATCOM products on multiple platforms. Work effectively with other ViaSat personnel from multiple disciplines; software, electrical and mechanical engineers as well as configuration management, production, test and technical publications staff. Support on-site installation, test and training of COTM SATCOM equipment. Provide technical and integration support to customers via phone and email as well as on- site technical support and marketing demonstrations. Ability to create and update training material, User Manuals, and other related documentation.
Experience/Skills Required
AS/BS degree in electrical engineering or equivalent job experience, plus 6-10 years experience with IP-based Military SATCOM systems. Candidate must have working knowledge of IP/Networking equipment, including configuration, application and troubleshooting of routers, switches and IP networks. Working knowledge of IP encryption devices, C/X/Ku/Ka band RF equipment, tracking antennas, standard test equipment and communications theory a plus. Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting mobile SATCOM systems, cryptographic equipment and IP network equipment a plus. Must be self motivated and support customers in a highly professional manner. Must be a US citizen and capable of possessing a US Government clearance. Up to 35% travel may be required, including international travel to Iraq and Afghanistan. Must be proficient with MS/Windows Office.
