Summary and Essential Functions
The Linux Administrator is part of a team that is accountable for the day-to-day operations of a complex global network. This position reports to the Manager of Technical Infrastructure & Client Systems Engineering.
You will function as the Linux SME (Subject Matter Expert), having strategic and tactical responsibilities for Planning and Implementation. Candidates who have engineered and maintained solutions in a managed services environment with strong written and verbal communication skills will be successful in this position.
Position Description
-Management and leadership of existing and new processes, programs and initiatives related to open source engineering.
- Establishes and influences operating policies while keeping in line with the overall vision of the company.
-Help provide strategic direction, guidance, leadership and integration of products and services for a complex global infrastructure.
-Serve as a tier 3 technical escalation points for advanced troubleshooting. You must have superior troubleshooting methodology and customer service skills.
-Thorough technical documentation skills are a must, and the ability to communicate concepts of highly technical nature to people with a functional business understanding will be required.
-Contribute to standards around which others will operate, establishing and influencing operating policies while keeping in line with the overall vision of the company.
-Contribute to policy/ program development for strategic and tactical initiatives and maintain the budgets specific to network engineering including short/long term cost reduction plans.
- Provide system administration including installation, configuration, customization and maintenance of the operating system and system software products in support of business requirements as well as customer needs.
- Administrate DNS for the enterprise.
Technical Requirements
• Certifications: One or more of the following – RHCE, RHCDS, RHCA, CLA11, CLP11
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar
• Systems: One or more of the following - Red Hat Enterprise Server V5 or V6, SuSe Enterprise Server V10 or V11), CentOS
• Virtualization: VMWare - ESX or VCenter
• Web Servers: Apache SME (Subject Matter Expert) supporting a PHP environment
• Firewalls: IP Tables / IP Chains
• Scripting: BASH, PHP
• Networking: TCP/IP, BIND, Security Log Monitoring
• Patch Management
Desired (But Not Required) Technical Experience and Knowledge
• Databases: MySQL Administration
• Scripting: Ruby, Perl, Python
• Load Balancing & High Availability: LVM, Linux HA
• Authentication: Puppet, LDAP
• Virtualization: VMWare VCenter V4 or V5
• Education: Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt Certification, ITIL V2 or V3 Certification
• Compliance: PCI DSS 2.0, SOX2
• Firewalls: Shorewall
• Telephony: Asterisk
• Networking: Splunk, DHCPD
• Linux System Hardening
