Job Description

Are you good with computers but looking for a little more excitement than is provided by an existence defined by a cubicle’s walls? Then join the Army National Guard as a Field Artillery Tactical Data System Specialist. As part of an elite field artillery team, you will operate tactical data systems on a Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) while learning in-demand computer skills that will help you in your civilian career.

The Army National Guard Field Artillery Tactical Data System Specialist plays an integral role in team operations by establishing, maintaining, and operating communications systems; preparing computer centers; setting up field artillery tactical data systems; and determining target locations using computers or manual calculations.

Plus, the skills you learn as a Field Artillery Tactical Data System Specialist prepare you for a lucrative civilian career working with computer and communications systems such as computer programming and telecommunications.

Earn while you learn

As an Army National Guard Field Artillery Tactical Data System Specialist, you will receive these valuable job skills while getting up to a $20,000 enlistment bonus, earning a regular paycheck, and qualifying for tuition assistance.

After Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental Soldiering skills, you will attend approximately seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training that will include a combination of hands-on and classroom training where you will learn how to decisively compute target locations, proper ammunition handling techniques, system operations, and artillery tactics.

And as your skills increase, so will your responsibilities. Advanced team members supervise and train other Soldiers, perform computer operations, fire mission processing, fire plan schedules, and database construction, initiate computer center operations, and perform maintenance on section equipment.

Benefits

  • Up to a $20,000 enlistment bonus
  • Additional income
  • Skills training
  • G.I. Bill and tuition assistance for college
  • Excitement and adventure
