We have an immediate opening for a Field Service Engineer II:

The primary location will be Nebraska with occasional responsibilities in the regional market area to maintain RWIS stations. The main role of a Field Service Engineer II is to support Vaisala’s customers both in commissioning (Site surveys, Factory Acceptance Tests, installation and System Acceptance Tests) and in after sales maintenance.  In addition to that, duties include technical support, Help Desk operations and customer training.  As a team member of the Vaisala Services organization, the successful candidate will report to the Local Field Service Manager in the designated region.

The ideal candidate will also have an active approach on learning new things and can handle several tasks simultaneously.

To succeed in this position, the ideal candidate will need to be customer oriented, have good training skills, and excellent verbal & written communications skills in English.

We are looking for someone who meets the following:

Required Skills:

• Bachelors degree in electronics or related technical field.
• Military or industry technical experience in a similar position could be substituted  for a degree.
• Minimum 2-4 years experience in supporting and troubleshooting electronics or communication  equipment.
• Ability to climb and work at heights on ladders, towers, and bucket trucks per OSHA guidelines.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds multiple times a day.
• Experience using a PC and  standard business software products such as Microsoft Office.   
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communications skills, with the ability to contribute successfully in a team environment and to focus on goals and readlines. 

Desired Qualifications:

• Readiness to travel domestically and internationally 50 - 75% of the time
• Proficient English Language Skills
• Experience in Linux UNIX useful but not essential
• Technical ability in practical problem solving would also be preferred
