Field Test Engineer

Trimble is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Field Test Engineer in the construction, mobile asset market space. Reporting to the Lead Test Engineer and Engineering Manager, the Field Test Engineer will be tasked with quality testing of telemetric solutions. The incumbent will be expected to:

•Plan, peer-review, and publish test plans, testing status, and test reports for field testing.
•Install and remove Devices-Under-Test on construction equipment machines.
•Efficiently collect and analyze population test data sets to effectively demonstrate product functionality and behaviors with respect to specifications and requirements.

Collateral duties include activities to complement lab unit and system level testing, tracking and debugging HW & FW issue, validating marketing and engineering specification definition and requirements, facilitating training and knowledge sharing, and other aspects that affect opportunities for continual improvement in our work environment and organizational culture. Additional attributes for successful execution of these primary and collateral duties for the Field Test Engineer include: test automation and data analysis expertise, experience with test instruments (scopes, meters, analyzers, etc), experience in development lifecycle methodologies, attention to detail, and good leadership skills. Travel to regional alpha and beta field test sites and exposure to weather elements may be necessary 20% - 50% of the time. Out of region travel is approximately 5% – 10%.

Education requirements: BS degree in related field, or exceptional experience in the job description domains.

Experience requirements (years): 4-8 years.

Skill requirements: Demonstrated electrical and mechanical aptitude. Excellent written and spoken communication and collaboration skills. Objectivity and analytical methodologies to swiftly identify root-cause issues. Experience and knowledge in our enabling technologies. (GPS, GSM GPRS/EDGE/3G, WiFi, BlueTooth, CAN J1939, Ethernet, and serial communications). Be able to read schematics, be able to perform electrical design, firmware programming. Excellent mechanical installation skills are required

Other requirements, please explain: Familiarity with construction machines and construction machine site operations. Strong mechanical skills. Demonstrate professional cable and harness routing and interconnection installations. Software programming and scripting experience to improve quality testing and data analysis methods and efficiencies. (C,C++, Python, Linux, are desired competencies)
