General Summary Minimum Requirements
The Area Coordinator is responsible for executing in the areas of safety, efficiency, yield, labor management and process improvement through close management of current systems and personnel. Area Coordinators may be responsible for multiple shifts within an area which will require a high level of organization and proven leadership capability. Moderate knowledge of all equipment, processes and procedures in the identified area is required. Thorough understanding of all quality systems, checks and paperwork for the area is required, as well as the ability to teach, coach and hold direct reports accountable to accuracy in the work assigned to them. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, ability to quickly multi-task and assess situations using analytical thinking and the proven ability to engage and lead teams are key responsibilities for the Coordinator position. The Area Coordinator role will require a high level of computer and analytical skills for day-to-day and assigned project work.
Principal Accountabilities
1. 10% - Ensures strict compliance with OSHA/WISHA standards and Company safety programs; strives to exceed safety performance expectations.
2. 20% - Maintains positive employee relations and builds team engagement in area of responsibility through fair, consistent interpretation and enforcement of Company policies and procedures, performance reviews, coaching and accountability; prompt resolution of issues; Leads organizational engagement and Gallup action plans to help drive and increase engagement across all levels of Operations.
3. 20% - Drives Continuous Improvement in assigned area by identifying and implementing measures to improve safety equipment performance and uptime, as well as production methods.
4. 20% - Meets area/line KPI goals and objectives (yield, line efficiencies, pounds per labor hour, throughput, etc.); identifies and executes corrective actions to prevent reoccurring issues.
5. 20% - Schedules, trains and directs the work activities of up to 35 hourly production employees across multiple shifts with two direct reports.
6. 10% - Inspects product and relative documentation to verify conformance to HACCP (food safety) guidelines, Company specifications and quality standards; ensures that all product is processed under safe, sanitary conditions.
Job Complexity
* Requires the ability to adjust work processes, procedures and crewing to meet rapidly changing production schedules.
* Interviews, hires, promotes, transfers employees based in accordance with Everett's policies and procedures.
* Must overcome employee resistant to change by effectively communicating business rationale for new or revised programs, policies or procedures.
* Build and leverage positive relationships with other departments (Maintenance, Sanitation, Warehouse, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, etc.).
* Ability to routinely flex work schedule to address the needs of the team across multiple shifts.
* Perform formal quarterly and annual performance discussions with all direct reports.
* Provide all new employees 30, 60 and 90 day formal performance feedback.
* Demonstrated knowledge of product/equipment flow from Warehouse through Casepacking and the reaction of downtime between departments.
* High level of accurate and timely communication to multiple levels of leadership within the organization regarding production issues, downtime, equipment failure, employee issues.
* Dedication to accurate and complete documentation of employee training, coaching and the ability to hold individuals on the team accountable if coaching and training have failed to improve performance.
* Demonstrated ability to manage labor hours through scheduling efficiency to meet AOP budget.
* Work with Area Lead/Specialist and/or area Safety Committee member in investigating all Quality Corrective Actions, Foreign Material Investigations and Safety incidents; Area Coordinator is responsible for completing the documentation in a timely manner and addressing any coaching/accountability measures as a result of the investigation and root cause.
* Build capability within the team by actively working to match individual employee passion with projects/teams/work which support the overall Everett business direction.
* Delegation of assignments to Area Lead, Specialist and team members, with the proven ability to follow up and ensure assignments have been executed.
* Bachelor's degree required, concentration in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
* 4-6 years progressive responsibility and leadership experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
Abilities Required
* 70% of time is spent on the production floor in assigned area of responsibility, 30% is dedicated to project work as assigned by the area leadership.
* Computer Skills (MS Office Tools, email, system navigation, Internet).
* Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
* Ability to train and effectively communicate company procedures and policies.
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivated, and team player.
* Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Ability to improve ergonomic design of work stations.
* Extensive walking, sitting and standing.
* Reach with hands and arms.
* Repetitive motion (fingers/hands/wrists).
* Lift up to 50 lbs.
* Ability to ascend and descend stairs repetitively throughout shift.
