Finance Business Systems Manager

Position Summary:
The key focus of this role is to learn the functional business of Finance better than anyone else. Specific responsibilities include (a) Requirements: work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies, and information systems. The BA understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the specific functional organization to achieve its goals. (b) Effective translation of business requirements to IT needs (c) Successful execution and delivery of system solution to functional needs. (d) Ensure solution provides consistent IT building blocks in the back end that effectively integrates with other functional areas as needed.
Accountabilities: Work with a specific functional area, Sales and Marketing as a liaison and representative of the MBCI IT department. Provide guidance to stakeholders on devising effective and efficient approaches to achieve the goals of the functional area. Identify and resolve ongoing day to day business issues pertaining to IT. (that are not projects) Effectively help the functional business area in managing a portfolio of business projects and assist in effective prioritization of projects that need to be executed. (Assisting with the business case, high level feasibility studies). Also report status of on-going prioritized projects to the functional and IT leadership. Effectively manage the execution of prioritized business projects as well as translation into IT projects that need to be executed to make the business function successful. Liaise with other project/business functional areas to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues Gather and define business requirements. Liaise with various business units to gather requirements and resolve issues Improve business processes Analyze and map processes (current state/future state) Analyze data Produce high quality documentation for requirements, solution options, recommended optimum solution, and project management / execution to deliver on promise. Manage change requests, traceability matrix (tracing requirements during implementation), acceptance, installation, and deployment of solution. Contribute to enterprise architecture development from a business needs point of view

Job Experience: Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Identify stakeholders: A key skill to identify key stakeholders based on the problem being addressed. • Business subject knowledge: strong background knowledge of the subject to make the requirements gathering efficient, or at least have the skills to apply logical analytical thought to a business issue. (The degree of business knowledge required depends highly on the complexity of the project). • Domain analysis knowledge: Strong in the process of analyzing related software systems in a specific domain (HR, Finance Supply chain etc.) to find their common and variable functionalities relevant to MBCI. • Business Processes: Provides expertise in the modeling/mapping of business processes, conducts as-is/to-be business processes, is instrumental in the business process re-engineering (BPR) and is involved in the change management exercise. (Examples of the process tools used by business analysts include Together Architect, Visio Professional, Aris Software, iGrafx Software, CASE, Control ES, QMAP Professional and others) • Project Management: a good understanding of Project Management methodologies. Project Managers manage resources that deliver the desired product or service while the BA manages business stakeholders. In smaller projects the BA needs to function as a PM as well • IT capabilities: understanding of what systems can and cannot do • Feasibility analysis: Skills around analysis on how realistic the requirements are in terms of effort, time, and costs • Relevance analysis: The skill to understand, manage, and articulate the purpose served by individual requirements in relation to larger business and/or project goals. • Data analysis: Skills in this area will usually focus on identifying what data the business currently has, what data need to be carried over into the new systems and/or analysis around what can be achieved with a new system. • Toolset skills: Skills required to successfully execute the business analysis process include communication skills, understanding of a variety of technologies and platforms (client/server and mainframe), entity relationship diagrams, and relational database concepts, object-oriented technologies, and the systems development life cycle (SDLC).
