Description:
This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer of CIMIT. Working collaboratively with the CIMIT Leadership, is responsible for fiscal management, oversight and reporting for CIMIT, as well as the administrative operations supporting those responsibilities.

CIMIT is a ten-year-old collaborative research center operated by MGH under Partners HealthCare System. Members of the collaboration include MIT, BWH, Draper Laboratories, Boston University and Medical Center, BIDMC, Childrens Hospital Boston, the Boston VA and other domestic and international affiliates.

The Finance Director will lead some teams and support others, within CIMITs management-team structure. As a senior member of CIMIT, the Finance Director will mentor select CIMIT staff members, some with close working relationships and others not.

The Finance Directors expertise will enable strong, effective recommendations and the development and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures related to fiscal as well as operations management, and the development of creative solutions for resolution of financial and administrative problems in a complex environment. Involvement in the short and long-range budget-planning process will be an essential part of the role, given CIMITs typical year-to-year variability in funding levels and sources.

RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Providing fiscal management of CIMIT- Monitor overall financial performance, reconcile budgets, expenses, and revenue sources, identify and evaluate opportunities for reducing costs, and report to CIMIT leadership. This includes:
a. Supporting special projects and providing reports
b. Serving as a member of the CIMIT CAR (Coordination and Allocation of Resource) Team
c. Assisting with budget development implementation and tracking
d. Overseeing the CIMIT requirements, reconciliation of all funds accounts, resolution of discrepancies, deficits and errors, and timely fund closeout.
e. Coordinating agreements with external partners
II. Providing real-time fiscal information (Fiscal Dashboard) to various levels of CIMIT Leadership Including:
a. Tracking and projecting receipt of funds and revenue
b. Tracking and reporting at two levels:
i. Funds, including approximately 100 project funds at any given time, with approximately 50 new ones each year as others close out
ii. Teams, the vehicle through which CIMIT manages its resources and various activities
III. Managing HR related issues:
a. Coordinating with HR for approximately 30 CIMIT-central staff
b. Mentoring select staff members, providing career guidance and annual reviews
c. Reviewing and approving new hire positions, annual reviews, and other staff salary payments
d. Oversees timekeeping activities processed through the MGH Kronos system, Human Resources and Payroll changes, and effort reporting, delegating as appropriate under established policies
IV. Overseeing fiscally-related and administrative activities of CIMIT's central staff including:
a. Providing review and approval of corporate credit cards and MGH purchasing cards
b. Reviewing and approving reimbursements (Delegates tasks as appropriate for responsible processing of these.)
c. Approving CIMIT-user access to shared drives and to MGH financial reports
V. Oversees facilities, space management and utilization reporting
VI. Responsible for financial compliance and oversight, including CIMIT responses for annual OMB A-133 audit
VII. Providing information, mentoring, and expert advice to staff and principal investigators on applicable policies.
