Duties and Responsibilities


 


                                                   General


Reporting to the Business Unit Director of Finance, this position is responsible for conduction financial planning and analysis activities supporting the Portable Elemental Analysis business unit.  Key responsibilities include, focus on month end Hyperion reporting accuracy and consolidation, financial reporting and analysis, detail sales analyses, commission plan management, commissions calculation, coordinating forecasting and budgeting process and ad hoc FP&A support as required.  This position will work closely with the Finance Director, business unit Finance Team, and senior management on a daily basis.


 


                                                   Detail


Financial Reporting & Analysis


1.                   Preparation of monthly closing schedule and coordination of business unit close process


2.                   Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and supporting information, within Hyperion, for submission to Division Finance


3.                   Perform analyses on monthly balance sheet and income statement for individual businesses and for consolidated business unit


4.                   Prepare monthly internal management report identify variances to budget and other benchmarks for submission and presentation to Finance Director and business unit senior management


5.                   Consolidate weekly reporting of sales, inventory and cash activity from global business unit commercial locations


6.                   Preparation of annual budget schedule and coordination of business unit consolidated budget and related reported package


7.                   Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives (PPI)


8.                   Analyze and calculate monthly performance measures at the business unit level, as needed


9.                   Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned


 


Sales Reporting & Analysis


1.                   Preparation of monthly sales reporting to support business results including, product family, regional, price, volume, mix and margin analyses


2.                   Maintain commissions models for direct sales team and independent representatives


3.                   Liaise with Sales force to identify business trendsImplement a strategy for optimizing the sales network to reach established sales goals in the territory.


4.                   Pro-actively seek new customers through joint cooperation with our distribution organization.


5.                   Increase the sales volume of “Portables” products in accordance with the Annual Operating Plan.


6.                   Learn the functionality of the company’s products, how they are installed, configured, and used.  Learn the product’s applications and limitations.


7.                   Know competitive products and competitive strategies prevalent within the territory and understand our product position and value propositions. 


8.                   Maintain and report accurate and timely forecasts for sales and strive to exceed these forecasts.


9.                   Submit written reports upon request on contacts made with customers and updates in the marketplace.


10.                Manage the sales process from receipt of a lead to the close of sale and product life.


11.                Assist the sales representatives with sales proposals and joint sales calls.


12.                Maintain excellent relationships with customers to ensure repeat business.


13.                Coordinate and ensure the success of customer trials and pre-sales evaluations.


14.                Maintain, track, and update status of customers in the company’s CRM tool.


15.                Execute timely follow-up on sales leads and report results in the company’s CRM tool.


 


Education & Experience


1.                   BS in Accounting or equivalent required


2.                   MBA or CPA preferred


3.                   4+ years progressive accounting experience, mix private + public experience a plus


4.                   Working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management Software and Smart View for Excel


5.                   Consolidation experience desirable


6.                   Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Access


7.                   ERP experience desirable, specifically Macola or large scale systems (e.g. SAP or JD Edwards)


8.                   Experience with Sales Force Dot Com a plus
