Financial Controller

Description:
The Airflex Business Unit located in Brooklyn, Ohio has an opening for a Financial Controller.

The Airflex Controller is responsible for the financial reporting and compliance of two manufacturing sites: Brooklyn, OH; and Juarez, Mexico.

The Airflex Controller serves as a member of the Airflex leadership team, and provides financial and accounting leadership across the two locations.

Key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Proactively identify, evaluate, and correct any process, GAAP, or SOX deficiencies in the financial reporting or practices of the business. Complete month end closure of accounting records. Implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Eaton financial policies, local regulations and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Report on and recommend alternatives to the business leader for strategic and tactical initiatives. Develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance to budget / forecast, working capital metrics, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operational effectiveness of the business.

Lead the Strategic and Profit Planning processes ensuring strategic initiatives are well thought out, supported by tactical actions and are conveyed in a logical manner.

Furnish timely communication to the business leader, leadership team, and next level financial leader on business issues, providing supporting documentation and alternative courses of action. Review financial results of operating locations, including furnishing financial advice, support and interpretation to appropriate stakeholders.

Establish and lead cross functional teams addressing business issues such as working capital management, manufacturing costs, productivity, through-put, and other similar functions.

Lead the talent management process for the Finance and Accounting function, focusing on bringing in high potential individuals into the organization, and building the capability of the existing team. The Controller will continually raise the bar on their team performance, and find creative and meaningful ways to build the skills within their function to help lead premier performance.

Coach and functionally manage the financial personnel within each of the two manufacturing sites in Airflex. Consult, direct, and assist local accountants in identifying and solving problems relating to financial performance and operational controls.

Consult with the Division / Group / Corporate Controller’s department regarding the development of new policies, changes to existing policies and the related compliance.

Focus on continuous improvement and not accepting status quo. Must challenge current cost position in order to create a highly efficient and world class organization. Must focus on business process improvement within finance organization to eliminate waste and reduce costs.

Assure protection for the assets of the operation through internal control, internal audit and proper insurance identification.

Qualifications:
Strong Business Acumen, Communication skills and Managerial Courage.

Analytical Skills – the ability to identify a problem, identify the root cause and recommend solutions

Approximately 5-7 years experience in a manufacturing environment (both job shop and continuous flow).

Networking – must be skilled at quickly establishing a rapport with the Business Leaders, Division Managers and external resources to support / assist in problem resolution.

B. A. in Business or Accounting; preferably a MBA and/or CPA.
