A Chicagoland area division of a Fortune 700 financial retail organization is seeking a strong Financial System Analyst to join its Financial Profitability Reporting Team.  This individual will be the liaison between our various Business Units, Business Information Group (IT) and the Corporate Headquarters in providing technical expertise and assistance by coordinating, enhancing and streamlining financial reporting processes.  Responsibilities include:

• Ownership of the internal web-based profitability and financial reporting system and its process.
• Summarizing and reporting statistical business metrics to support the profitability of the reporting process.
• Coordination of the monthly management reporting process with the Holding Company’s Team.
• Reviewing the line-of-business profitability reports from the Head Office and validation of those results.
• Learning and becoming well verse in all aspects of the organization’s data warehouse.
• Acting as the liaison between business units and IT.
• Supporting business units by establishing recurring reports and data extracts.
• Training users on the web-based profitability tool.
• Supporting Business Leaders with ad-hoc financial analysis and profit enhancement projects on an as needed basis.
• Creation of reports for third party incentive processing, including, funds transfer pricing, sales officer data, balance sheet and income statement data loads.
• Preparation of deposit maturity application extracts.  Assuring that all active products are included in the physical extract and are balanced to the financials. 
• Ensuring that financial requirements and deadlines are met, including, transmitting data to the Head Office by the third business day of each month.
• Participation in annual budgetary process by assisting in consolidations, comparisons and submissions of the line-of-business financials.
• Coordination with the IT Group on an ongoing basis to maintain the software and hardware requirements for the team.

 Job Requirements

·         5+ years of work experience in a Financial Systems Analyst role performing analysis, accounting, budgeting and forecasting functions

·         Banking or financial service sector experience highly desirable

·         Strong knowledge and familiarity with financial systems and experience with system administration / support,  as well as extensive data management skills

·         Deep understanding of various financial concepts, including superb understanding of balance sheets and income statements

·         Outstanding analytical skills, including great ease with balance sheets and income statement analysis

·         Knowledge of financial system administration

·         Experience in writing and executing ad-hoc reports from a third party tool

·         Project management skills

·         Ability to manage the design, test and implement phases of the system development life cycle

·         Strong understanding of financial tools and the ability to rapidly learn new tools (i.e. Cognos)

·         Must have a goal oriented approach to projects and be creative when dealing with business problems and systems issues to arrive at an optimal solution

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Highly developed interpersonal skills (tact, discretion) with ability to effectively communicate and work with regional executives, business unit community and IT

·         Must be a team player with the ability to work as a valued contributor

·         Results oriented with strong work ethic

·         Willing and able to perform hands-on work

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Windows, email, database packages, Excel and other advanced spreadsheet products

Education

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance.  MBA or MBA in process desirable
