SUMMARY


 


This Value Practice establishes and describes the authority, duties, responsibilities, reporting relationships and measure of accomplishment of the functional position of Fitness Consultant for 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment.


 


BASIC FUNCTION:


 


The basic function of the Fitness Consultant is to achieve the revenue, gross margin and controllable profit goals as agreed upon with the Store Manager.


 


The Fitness Consultant is tasked with finding fitness solutions for the customers of 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment which are rewarding to everyone involved including the company, the customer and the Fitness Consultant.


 


Another function of the Fitness Consultant is to solicit, promote and safeguard satisfactory and profitable long term relationships with the customers of 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment.


 


AUTHORITY:


 


The Fitness Consultant receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to the Store Manager for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities.


 


The Fitness Consultant has the authority to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position so long as such action does not deviate from established company policies and is consistent with sound business judgment.


 


 


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:


 


The Fitness Consultant reports to the Store Manager.


 


The positions which report directly to the Fitness Consultant are:


 


Ø      None


 


 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


The principal duties and responsibilities of the Fitness Consultant consist of, but are not limited to, the following:


 


 


Ø      Ensures the quality servicing of customers by personal involvement and intelligent solutions.


 


Ø      Ensures that all inventory is properly recorded, tracked and secured during assigned shifts.


 


Ø      Keeps the Store Manager informed as to all pertinent factors affecting the assigned responsibilities.


 


Ø      Monitors sales results for potential improvements and variances from plan and takes appropriate actions.


 


Ø      Monitors competitive activity in the market and identifies new competition and/or changes in competitor’s activities.


 


Ø      Identifies quality, timeliness or perceived value problems reported by customers, as well as requests for new products and services.


 


Ø      Implements programs designed to minimize external and internal losses and/or inventory shrinkage.


 


Ø      Maintains strong customer relationships and makes recommendations for attracting new customers.


 


Ø      Makes recommendations as to the most effective store layout possible.


 


Ø      Ensures that in store merchandising is effective, appealing and in keeping with 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment standards.


 


Ø      Readily responds to customer complaints and comments in a manner which resolves the issue while maintaining company guidelines.


 


Ø      Embraces the values and ideals expressed in the Vision and Mission Statements of 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment.


 


Ø      Performs all administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner.


 


Ø      Complies with established security, sales and record keeping procedures and practices.


 


Ø      Creates the “Wow Factor” while interacting with customers.


 


Ø      Ensures the proper floor layout with correct labels, tags and prices.


 


Ø      Develops a solid understanding of the merchandise offered by the store and the benefits thereof by studying manuals, literature, videos and other available sources of information.


 


Ø      Ensures that direct customer relationships are positive, productive and profitable.


 


Ø      Stays current on industry trends.


 


Ø      Ensures that the proper image is portrayed through personal appearance, maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds.


 


Ø      Makes recommendations for and attends such training as is need for the Fitness Consultant to stay proficient in all areas of responsibility.


 


Ø      Ensures that all cash, checks, and charge transactions are properly recorded, reconciled and deposited in compliance with 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment procedures during assigned shifts.


 


Ø      Ensures that purchase of used equipment is prudent and in the company’s best interest.


 


Ø      Performs any other related or unrelated, unassigned, unspecified, unusual or special duty the Store Manager may assign from time to time.


 


 


MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:


 


Specific performance objectives will be developed with the Store Manager on an annual basis based on current and future business needs.


 


Examples may include:


 


Ø      Revenue objectives are achieved.


 


Ø      Gross Margin Objectives are achieved.


 


Ø      The assets of the store are managed in such a way that the maximum return on those assets is achieved.


 


Ø       Company policies are followed at all times.


 


Ø       Overall Satisfaction of the Store Manager.


 


REQUIREMENTS:


 


EDUCATION:          


 


Preferred:      Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field; however, extensive managerial experience in the retail industry may substitute.  ACE certification preferred.


 


Required:      High School or equivalent.


 


 


EXPERIENCE:


 


Preferred:      Physical trainer, health club or related experience.


 


 


SKILLS:


 


Must possess the ability to work closely with diverse groups of people, including company employees at all levels, customers, owners, vendor reps and other outside professionals with whom the company deals with on a regular basis. This position requires that the incumbent maintain a valid driver’s license at all times.


 


PHYSICAL:               Includes sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing and use of hands and arms to operate office equipment, move inventory and move/set up displays.  Must be able to lift, move, or slide 100lbs.


 


MENTAL:                   Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.  Must be able to work under time and budgetary pressures.
