Position Description

• The Flavorist provides essential support to our customers, internal and external, regarding the creation, duplication, selection and presentations of flavors. Due to the high volume of requests and customers served, this position requires urgency, flexibility, and responsiveness.  

Position Responsibilities

• This position is primarily responsible for: producing and selecting the appropriate flavors to support customer needs, assist in prototype formulation, flavor application interaction and building technical credibility with external customers through project interaction and successful flavor solutions.
  
• Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure timely and accurate support to the Business Unit Group (BUG) needs to provide necessary detailed information to allow for meeting customer's needs on a daily basis.
• Ingredient Understanding - Continuously increase the ingredient knowledge and handling experience; Maintain formulations in Product Vision to allow for continued support of customer needs across business units; Understanding the newest ingredients available to address the growing regulatory requirements of the market; Providing support for alternative raw material sourcing; Actively work with Technology and Innovation in understanding the next technology being introduced and work with applications to maximize impact in BUG.
• Data Management - Ensure these duties are completed in the lab by self and/or junior staff to provide credibility to the products created in the lab and provide ability for gold mining of data: Maintains flavor information history and flow of customer-specific information into Product Vision; Updating daily the creation/modification information into Product Vision Notes; Providing support for the junior level in department for good practices
• Lab Maintenance - Ensure these duties are completed in the lab by junior staff to provide credibility to the products created in the lab: Maintain the stock of lab supplies and raw materials in the necessary locations in the lab; Organizing new stock and daily clean up of the lab areas; Maintaining the scale calibration on all lab scales on a weekly basis; Perform basic testing (i.e. flashpoint, specific gravity, brix, temperature measurement, and caliper measurements); Investigate and recommend new equipment as needed to better support the market segments.

Position Requirements

• Certified Flavorist
• BS in Chemistry or related field
• Minimum of 7-10yrs experience 
• Experience in Sweets, Beverage, Nutrition or Diary preferred
