Food Processing Quality Assurance Manager

About the Job

Charlie’s Produce is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager.  The position will report directly to the General Manger and will primarily be responsible for:

·         Implementing and enforcing food safety and security procedures for Alaska Carrot Processing.

·         Developing, implementing and enforcing workplace safety programs to ensure Charlie’s Produce is meeting company goals and regulatory requirements.

·         Monitoring, documenting and reporting on finished product specifications to measure compliance with company standards for growing, packing and cooling operations.

·         Reviewing and analyzing all business functions in order to create reports and recommendations for sustainability initiatives.

Requirements:                                                                                  

·         The Quality Assurance Manager will need to be able to work alone in many of the core functions and also work as a team member with the HACCP management team and production personnel.

·         Strong skills in data collection, management and organization are required. 

·         The candidate will need to be proficient with computers and analytical operations. 

·         The ideal candidate will also have a general understanding of food safety (GAP, GMP, HAACP and SOPs), worker safety (state labor laws and OSHA), and produce/farming practices.

·         Assist in the development, training, and implementation of process control procedures.

·         Ensure that established process control procedures are followed throughout the plant.

·         Maintain plant compliance to the HACCP and quality systems programs.

·         Conduct regular plant food safety and security audits.

·         Provide training to production workers on process control, product evaluation, HACCP, Allergens, GMPs, security, and other procedures.

·         Maintain daily product evaluation programs (scoring, key quality indicators, shelf life).

·         Provide support to Technical Services in conducting plant trials for new products/processes.

Qualifications:                                                                                                              

·         Experience working in a kitchen or food manufacturing environment.

·         Demonstrated ability to organize and lead a diverse work force.

·         Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative, sense of urgency and flexibility.

·         Knowledgeable in HACCP, GMPs, MSDS and other regulatory requirements.

·         Computer skills including MS Word, Excel,

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently with out daily supervision/monitoring.
