POSITION SUMMARY:
The Forecast Modeler/Quantitative Analyst is primarily responsible for the creation of the technical or statistical forecast of customer and consumer demand for Chiquita products. This position will reside within the Commercial Operations organization and will support and facilitate the forecasting process. The objective of this position is to measurably improve forecast accuracy and eliminate bias from the forecast. This person will be responsible for the creation of the statistical forecast, and also the on-going measurement of the forecast?s performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collection of input quantitative data to support forecasting, including Chiquita historical demand data (orders, shipments, etc.), POS data from customers, Syndicated POS data
-Quality assessment of the data to ensure completeness and accuracy and when errors are detected taking actions to correct errors - Collection of the past/future demand factors (expansion of distribution, new customers, price changes, promotion plans, etc.) from Sales and Product Marketing
- Modeling the impacts of these demand factors as seen in historical data to separate out base history from incremental business
- Development of and use of forecast models that take into account past historical base business (average, trend, seasonal components, etc.) and incremental business (new distribution, new customers, price change, promotions, etc.)
- Production of the POS retail consumer and the Chiquita shipping forecasts by product by ship-to and aggregate to the Chiquita ship-from level
- Review of the statistical forecasts with Sales, Commercial Operations, and Product Marketing; make modifications as necessary; participate in full Supply-Demand-Finance S&OP meetings
- Manage the forecast review and adjustment process
- Measure forecast accuracy of both the statistical forecast and the final consensus forecast (statistical + management adjustments)
- Production of Forecast and Forecast Performance reports
SKILLS:
- Analysis of large data sets to understand data quality, define data transformations, and the integration into analytical models
- Expert in the use Microsoft Excel
- Highly developed quantitative Analysis skills
- Proficiency with databases (SQL/Server, Access) and SQL
- Proficiency with Logility Demand Planning tool is a plus
- Familiar with demand forecasting and experience using commercial forecasting packages
Interpersonal skills - Communication (oral, written, presentation) skills
EDUCATION:
Undergraduate College degree in related field required
2 years experience in related forecasting role
