The Material Handling Specialist  will operate a gasoline or electric powered industrial equipment with lift devices, forklift and clamps to push, pull, lift, stack, or move products.  Loads, unloads, and moves materials within the  work site.  Receives, stores, and distributes materials, finished goods, and products within the company guidelines. Picks and packs customer orders according to the warehouse SOP's.  Ensures all counts and paperwork is accurate and timely. Counts articles to verify contents of shipments against "Pick Lists” . while maintaining efficient quality and productivity standards required for a Material Handling Specialist at Vi-Jon. 


 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge:  High School Dip[loma or Equivalent.  Knowledge of appropriate forklift regulations and safety rules is mandatory.

Experience:  Minimum of one year consumer goods narrow aisle warehouse forklift operator case pick and pack experience, including the completion of shipping documents and data entry.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: Forklift Truck, SAP, RF Scanner operating device .

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Forklift operator certification. 

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

 

Essential Functions
Behavior: A team player with qualities of cooperation and coordination, professional interaction with all business contacts all day, every day.
Attendance: Exceptional attendance is a mandatory requirement.
Safety: Comply with all requirements of the safety program, including: hazard recognition, housekeeping, accident and near miss reporting, proper use of all safety equipment and procedures, adherence to all Safety Rules.  Reporting of safety issues is mandatory.

Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.

Position forks, lifting platforms, and other lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, finished goods, and transports them to appropriate designated areas.

Unloads trailer and goods.

Maintains forklift and request maintenance with in company guidelines.

Packs orders following Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all paperwork is accurate, including recording of lot number.

Operates stretch wrap machine and secures pallet load to the pallet.

Ensures proper loading of all trailer loads for correct loading patterns.

Attaches customer labels to pallets.

Ensures ACCURATE COUNTS AND LABELS FOR EACH CUSTOMER, including drivers for their driver count.

Maintains a clean and functional warehouse.

Unloads inbound freight carriers, completes a receiver for contract packing product, and ensures accurate counts and product identification, and places product in correct location according to SOP.

Ensures ALL paperwork is turned in to the warehouse office in a timely manner.

Examines articles for defects, dirt, and other detriments according to company policies.

Ensures ACCURATE driver counts.

Reports all problems with the SAP system, product, and the building to the supervisor.

Relocates product, completing appropriate relocator forms in a timely manner.

Return Authorization (RA), receiver completed and verified for accuracy.
