PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for formulation development, optimization, and process development for solid, liquid and semi-solid dosage form of dietary supplements.
· Generates protocols, reports and master batch records.
· Performs scale-up and technology transfer to manufacturing.
· Optimizes existing products and/or process.
· Supervises and provides guidance and direction to assigned technicians.
ASSOCIATED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist in selecting and ordering supplies and raw materials.
· Assist in evaluating new equipment.
· Bench / lab work of 50-70% of time, depending on formulation workload
· Other related duties as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· BS in Chemistry or a pharmaceutical-related science required; MS preferred.
· 5 + years experience directly related to formulation development, scale-up and manufacturing of pharmaceutical drug products / dietary supplements or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Strong working knowledge of dietary supplement raw materials and characteristics.
· Experienced in the use of Design of Experiments concepts when developing new formulations.
· Formulation experience with solid dosage forms and associated equipment.
· Requires good knowledge of GMP related to dietary supplements.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to organize, prioritize and effectively perform concurrent tasks with minimal supervision in a team environment. Strong attention to detail.
