We are currently seeking a Freight & Logistics Supply Chain Manager.   The ideal candidate will be developing, implementing and overseeing the continual improvement of the freight and logistics strategy for the company which will result in the selection of quality suppliers, reduction of freight costs and improvement of operational efficiency. 


 


Location: This position will be based out of one of our offices in the areas of, but not limited to, Ontario and Alberta, Canada & the North East Region of the US.  The location will depend on the location of the candidate. 


 


Job Specifications


 


§         responsible for the customs and duties administration and related federal and statutory requirements for international and cross border shipments


§         Responsible for the development of the company’s freight strategy including but not limited to the selection of third party logistics providers, as appropriate; selection and negotiations of preferred carriers for inter and intra-state transportation; selection and negotiation with small package carriers and will work with the operational team on implementing the required operational processes with the division offices


§         process timely delivery of materials on both domestic and overseas shipments by land, air and sea to customer’s satisfaction, at the least costs and most efficient manner.  Manages controls and generates customs documentation for all cross-border and international shipments and ensure compliance within the limits of the law


§         analyzing data to monitor performance and plan improvements and demand;


§         liaising and negotiating with third party logistics suppliers:


§         business improvement by gaining new contracts, analyzing logistical problems and producing new solutions


§         developing and maintaining freight routing guides and packaging guidelines for shipping


§         develop and maintain web based information portals for internal users


§         monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods for all cross border & int’l shipments


§         as required project management of key activities – planning, coordination and completion of related projects


 


Minimum Requirements


 


§         4 Year degree or a combination of experience and education, in business, logistics, transportation, customs brokerage or related field.  Knowledge of international trade and practices, Letters of Credit. 


§         5 to 10 years experience in international freight forwarding, transportation and logistics or related function and five (5) years in customs.  Able to identify logistics issues, trends and innovations to minimize risks, reduce costs and optimize efficiency.  Ability to manage and handle multiple tasks requiring freight transportation, project coordination and request for customs documentation involving multi-branch team.


§         Detail oriented, self-starter, well organized, able to work without supervision, ability to handle and prioritize multitude of tasks under pressure in a fast paced team environment.  Strong analytical skills, good negotiating skills, strong Oral and written communications skills.


§         MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
