SUMMARY:
The position hours will range from 4:00am to 2:00pm Monday - Friday with flexibility to work Saturdays on short notice.
As part of the BPNA Transportation Department the freight specialist is responsible for daily activities such as order planning, TMS system maintenance, filing and processing of carrier freight claims, freight quotes, traffic documentation, shipment expedites, and reporting based on metrics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proficient use and comprehensive understanding of Fourgen (operating system), Provia (WMS- warehouse management system) and Freight Logic (TMS – traffic management system). Use of Excel and Access on occasions.
- Freight planning, which includes freight optimization, carrier assignment, mode selection of orders. Involves TMS and WMS interface activities.
- Full understanding of Resource Planning department and their functional daily duties.
- Processing freight quotes (both domestic and international) based on information provided by National Account Managers or Project Coordinators.
- Claims processing. This includes retrieving proper data from NAMs, project coordinators, and carriers to file claims documents.
- Track and receive claim decisions, updating claimsbased upon approvals / denials received from carriers, update claim log(s) for claim settlements received, forward settlement checks to Finance, and submit credits to Freight Finance.
- Track & Trace imports for customers and internal organization(s) as required.
- Communicate with carriers to ensure efficient service for all Brightpoint customers
- Communicate with Sales department to update orders and investigate problematic issues. Rate reconciliation is often required.
- Track and trace of shipments to confirm departure and delivery of shipments. Follow-up with customers and account teams as required.
- Maintain customer requirements such as billable stamps, ship-to-vias, and special 3rd party request on orders.
- Updating of carrier contracts and accessorial charges that can change weekly, such as fuel surcharge.
- Commercial Invoice/SED generation and scheduling of pick-ups with non-contracted carriers.
- Reporting based on metrics as set forth by management.
- Communicate with and interact with Transportation, Resource Planning, Operations, and Floor personnel relative to all issues related to efficiently freight planning orders.
- Work with Cargo/Outbound/Receiving/Inbound on shipment documentation, shipment verification, expedites, and special projects.
Experience and Skills:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
At least 2 years of college preferred but not required
Previous work in transportation, logistics, or operations preferred
Microsoft Office skills required.

The Transportation department is a very fast-paced environment within an ever-changing industry of 3rd party wireless services distribution. It is important that an individual can multi-task, adapt to change quickly and can learn new processes when implemented. Excellent communication skills are required.
