We have an excellent opportunity for you to join a growing global automotive supplier as a Full Systems Exhaust Engineer at our Hagen Drive Grand Rapids, MI location.

OVERVIEW:

This position will be responsible for representing Benteler Automotive’s interests at the customer, providing support in securing new business and training peers in cold end exhaust products and manufacturing processes of these products. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Primary interface for design, testing and preferred processing/manufacturing related activities for full Exhaust Systems components, including but not limited to:  mufflers, resonators, system piping, hanger brackets, hanger rods, isolators, manifolds, converters.
• Integration of the existing product and manufacturing group in exhaust system development.
• Establishment of cost and design standards.
• Establishment of manufacturing standards in co-operation with manufacturing
• Support customer and Benteler VA/VE activities
• Interface with the Benteler launch team to resolve product issues
• Support technical presentations at the customer.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• BS in Engineering or related field
• Minimum of five (5) years of related Full System work experience
• Prior Tier 1 experience working directly with automotive OEMs
• Solid trouble shooting skills
• Excellent GD&T skills
• Knowledge of physical testing on complete exhaust systems and collecting inputs for such testing
• Knowledge of analytical testing on complete exhaust systems
• Knowledge of all domestic OEMs testing standards related to complete exhaust systems.
• Knowledge and selection of materials used in exhaust engine applications
• Knowledge of complex welded assemblies and industry standard leakage testing.
• Solid understanding of Automotive Procedures, including DVPRs, DFMEA, PFMEA, CPK, PPK Control Plans, and PPAP/PSO.
