General Summary
Individual will be responsible for all Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) proposals with oversight responsibilities for global funding opportunities.
Position Overview
Individual will be responsible for evaluating current core technological competencies within Michelman, looking at various projects seeking proposals that would be funded under the SBIR/STTR, matching these projects with core competencies, liaising with the subject matter expert for pertinent offerings, writing up the grant proposals for these opportunities and then monitoring the use of funds granted in support of accepted proposals from Phase I to Phase III of the funding mechanism.
This position will eventually acquire expertise in FP7 funding projects in Europe and elsewhere and then liaise with appropriate individuals to insure successful grant writing in these regions.
Primary Responsibilities
· Evaluate current core technologies within the Company
· Evaluate project offerings within SBIR/STTR
· Liaise with subject matter experts as identified in SBIR/STTR funding offerings
· Liaise with appropriate companies involved in the supply chain around the SBIR/STTR offering
· Write pertinent grant proposals
· Oversee work that is performed under the funded projects for compliance to funding requirements in all Phases
· Liaise with European and Asian facilitates that provide support for funding of research so that proposals are written appropriately and are successfully granted
· Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Must be team oriented
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Ability to effectively and efficiently multitask
Education and Experience
· Minimum of a B.S. Degree in a science (preferably chemistry, chemical engineering, or polymer science)
· Excellent working knowledge of SBIR/STTR funding requirements and mechanisms
· Demonstrated success in grant writing under SBIR/STTR
· Ideally, 5 years or more experience in an industrial environment
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Normal office environment
· Must be willing to travel as necessary
