GIS Technicians I-III

About the Job

Our company is a leading sports consumer products manufacturer.

We are seeking talented individuals for multiple Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician openings (levels I, II, and III DOE) which will be located at our Ridgeland, MS office.

 

These entry to mid-level level positions are responsible for database maintenance, retrieving and cataloging digital imagery, analyzing and processing geophysical features, and creation of data overlays from imagery using ArcEditor GIS software, Photoshop and custom software tools.

 

These challenging positions will involve a high degree of technical focus and will may opportunities for future advancement based on performance.

Level II+ positions will require specialized GIS systems expertise and/or supervisory experience.

 

Additional duties and responsibilities include:

Use of  ESRI ArcGIS / ArcEditor software to digitize imagery and ground-truth data into the company's enterprise Digital Asset Management System

Confirm system data to ensure accuracy making all necessary edits and updates as needed

Assign attribute information to data overlays

Process files in accordance with artistic directives

Export processed files back to the digital asset management database

Uphold quality requirements and coordinate with QA team as required

Identify and flag defects and errors in the workflow process

Implement corrective actions to minimize any future defects

Meet or exceed throughput metrics and goals of the production process

Generate production and quality reports as required

Accomplish assigned tasks and objectives in a timely manner with required degree of quality

All other duties and responsibilities as required

 

Requirements

Ability to become familiar with industry specific terminology and symbology.

Demonstrate strong computer knowledge through effective use of a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to learn company specific applications.

Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts.

Exceptional customer service skills.

Excellent written and verbal English communications skills.

Able to effectively manage time and prioritize projects in order to meet established deadlines.

Willingness to accept and follow directions.

Self-motivated and able to work well independently and in team settings.

Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems or closely related program.

2 or more years supervisory and/ or actual GIS experience (for level 2+ positions)

Other Image geospatial data processing software experience (AutoCAD, MicroStation, MapWindow)

Geo-spatial data knowledge (basic concepts pertaining to latitude, longitude, elevation, geoid reference)

Functional with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access

MS SQL knowledge beneficial

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or other vector based image editing software experience is a strong plus
