Role Summary/Purpose
The Gas Turbine Rotor - Life Management Senior Engineer will perform detailed analyses and risk assessments in support of fleet risk management activities. Types of analyses include LCF (cyclic and hold-time), HCF, creep and crack growth. In this role you will lead projects, guide and mentor less-experienced engineers as they develop expertise in the life management field.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Establish team schedules to define and deliver quality results on time
  • Participate in establishing technology needs, and define roadmaps to close gaps
  • Drive technology that will improve the quality and competitiveness of GE’s rotor life offerings
  • Focus would include, but not be limited to, high-end analysis methods, advanced material understanding and testing, inspection and rotor refurbishment advancements, fleet leader inspections to validate analyses
  • Define and own life management policies, procedures and analysis methods for existing fleet and as applied to new products
  • Coordinate projects with thermal systems, product service, repair engineering, chief engineer’s office, product line, sales to assure team success. Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Support fulfillment activities to deliver rotor life extensions to customers
  • Create and Maintain relationships across GE Businesses to share methods and best practices
  • Leverage personal capabilities by effectively leading domestic and global team members to contribute to projects

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of Gas Turbine Engineering Experience
  • Minimum 8 years background with Mechanical Design & Lifing techniques and tools
  • Minimum 8 years experience with manufacturing, inspection and refurbishment processes
  • Green belt certified (GE employees only)

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications
    GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

    Desired Characteristics
  • 15+ years of Gas Turbine Engineering Experience
  • Minimum 10 years background with Mechanical Design & Lifing techniques and tools
  • Minimum 10 years experience with manufacturing, inspection and refurbishment processes
  • Rotating component design experience
  • Fleet life management and probabilistic lifing experience
  • Extensive experience with GE Energy product line
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and technical skills
  • Customer satisfaction mindset with strong DFSS orientation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Minimum 1 year Engineering / Technology Leadership Experience
  • Travel to Global Design, Manufacturing and Service Center Sites
  • Advanced Technical degree
  • Black Belt certified (GE employees only)
