Union Electric Steel – Carnegie, PA location is seeking qualified candidates for a General Accountant to be part of our team of highly trained, skilled and motivated employees.
Job Summary
Maintains fixed asset activity, performs accounts receivable collection activities, prepares ad hoc analyses and assists with accounting activities as needed
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintains and reconciles the fixed asset system, including asset additions/deletions, tax and book depreciation calculations, forecast and report preparation
· Performs accounts receivable collection activities and interacts externally with customers and agents to prevent or resolve payment delinquency
· Prepares monthly sales order backlog reconciliation
· Monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
· Conducts annual audits of fixed asset and physical inventories
· SOX Compliance/Internal control testing/ audits
· Assists with accounting activities as needed
· Ad hoc financial analyses
Management/Supervisory Responsibilities
Education/Experience (all education/experience bullets are required unless noted as “preferred”)
· BS/BA Degree; major in Accounting/Finance
· 1-2 accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (all knowledge, skills and abilities are required unless noted as “preferred”)
· Prior Fixed Asset accounting experience preferred
· Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
· Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize projects
· Ability to function in a team environment
· Ability to maintain discretion, tact and poise working with confidential company information
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance
· Continual attention to detail and accuracy
· Independent judgment and decision making abilities
· Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office products to organize and communicate
