Description:
The position reports to the General Counsel of LMIMCo and is responsible for a wide range of legal and compliance issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with LMIMCos full team of investment and operations professionals to provide them
with outstanding legal support, including the following:
- Negotiate wide range of investment-related contracts, including investment management
agreements, private equity investments (LPAs and side letters), real estate investments,
prime brokerage agreements, ISDAs and professional service contracts
- Provide legal advice and counsel on full range of investment-related issues
- Manage litigation matters
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies
- Manage outside counsel on various transactional, litigation and regulatory matters
- Partner with corporate benefits personnel on various compliance and reporting needs
- Support LMIMCos General Counsel as necessary
A Bachelor's degree and law degree with at least 5 years of experience at investment management company, financial institution, or law firm handling investment-related legal matters.
Qualifications:
- A thorough understanding of investment-related laws and regulations (e.g., ERISA, 40 Act,
securities laws)
- Strong negotiation and legal management skills and ability to draft, review and revise
transaction-related documents
- Effective, influential interpersonal skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, challenging environment
