Job Summary: The General Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of Door Center operations personally or through subordinate staff with primary responsibility for customer service and operations. ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: - Assist with maintaining sales
- Prepares Door Center budget for management review/approval and monitors performance against budget
- Reviews cost of operations and suggests cost containment strategies to maintain and enhance profitable operation of Door Center
- Prepares and submits required management reports
- Oversees the staffing, development, supervision and directing of all Door Center personnel
- Establishes operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of merchandise, and keeping of warehouse inventory
- Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded sales in area
- Establishes and ensures conformity to work procedures governing Door Center operations
- Resolves employee grievances or submits unsettled grievances to District Service Manager for action
- Communicates company methods/policies/procedures to staff and/or clientele
- Coordinates assembly, work schedules (including temporary personnel as needed), and warehousing operations to ensure scheduled delivery dates are met
- Ensures the availability of parts required for warehouse assembly and production by coordinating with Sales and Purchasing Departments
- Inspects warehouse facilities and equipment and recommends changes in allocation of space and storage procedures to District Service Manager
- Ensures that corporate programs regarding safety, security, care of equipment and facility, etc., are followed, ensures OSHA compliance
- Investigates customers complaints involving such matters as damaged items, overcharges, and delay in shipment, and confers with District Service Manager on necessary adjustment
- Accountable for meeting weeks of inventory, scrap and damage goals
- Responsible for an 'injury-free' workplace
- Assist in the development of an annual Individual Development Plan (IDP) and meet all training targets as spelled out in the IDP and by corporate goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must perform work in non-climate controlled warehouse facility
- Extended time on feet, walking distances up to 200 feet
- Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination for operation of hand/power tools
- Frequent stooping, bending, walking, carrying and lifting (up to 75 pounds)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: - Verbal, written and interpersonal skills (sales skills)
- Organizational, time management and analytical skills
- College education or related experience
- Valid drivers license
- Good supervisory, leadership and motivational skills
- PC / Windows skills
- Mechanical aptitude / power tools
