VSAT Operations Technician (4267)

Job Responsibilities
 

The NOC Technician is responsible for pro-active network management of all customer related systems; VSAT hub, VSAT remote, RF chain and all associated equipment. Our ideal candidate is knowledgeable on RF, networking and has experience in Unix.  Additional duties include:


  • Notify customer of any communication loss or outage resulting from Hub equipment failure.




  •  Troubleshoot network outages by diagnosing all VSAT and customer related systems.

  • Dispatch a service company if needed, test the repair, verify repair with customer, and document all aspects of the entire event. Follow-up all service calls.

  • Monitor all hub equipment and notifying Senior Technicians and the Manager of any problems.

  • Verify fix with customer and inform them of the estimated time of arrival (ETA) of service technician.

  • Document all network outages, calls, and solutions, in trouble ticket database.

  • Keep current status of all network outages and pending solutions.

  • Escalate most difficult and time consuming of problems to the Senior NOC Technicians.

  • In association with other network technicians maintain the configurations of all hub and customer host equipment.

  • Monitor all hub equipment and report any malfunctions to senior technical staff.

  • Must have ability to work rotating shifts.

  • Familiarity with various software packages.

  • Flexibility to work adhoc projects.

  • Follow all company procedures and directives.




Experience/Skills Required


  • Minimum of an AA Degree in technology (EE, Computer Science, ...) or a 2-year technical degree. 

  • 2+ years of experience in VSAT environment or communication equipment.

  • The NOC Technician must also be capable of following written instructions including technical diagrams, navigate on a PC, and understand how to use hub equipment and adhere to procedures and safety precautions. 

  • Must have knowledge of IP communication · Must have knowledge in one or more communications protocols (such as TCP/IP, X.25 etc). 

  • Ability to fluently speak Spanish is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills.
