The Global Category Director will be responsible for developing and leading a global network of multi client Category Specialists and delivering sourcing and category management services in the areas of Facilities and Services and all related subcategories.  The Global Category Directors are highly skilled and experienced category owners who will be responsible for the development and execution of the category strategies and "products" including: Operating Model, Organizational Design, Best Practices, Sourcing & Buying Tools, Strategic and Tactical Sourcing Approaches, Supplier Management Programs,  Demand Management Opportunities, Key Metrics and Reports, Compliance Management Programs, Leveraged and Pre-Sourced Supplier Agreements and Go to Market Messages. This position will be instrumental in providing category specific Sourcing and Category Management Services which form a fundamental core capability, either as an integral element of a "sourcing to settlement" contract or as a standalone offering.

 

For existing clients, the Global Category Director will work closely the Management and leadership of category resources in partnership with delivery leadership, including objective setting, appraisal, motivation, training and coaching, to ensure effective delivery of strategy and contractually agreed client goals and service levels, within agreed financial budgets and relevant Unit Leads /Account Managers to collectively decide on the near term pilot tests and ultimate migration pace to move to the new operating model.

 

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:  

 

  • Minimum of 10 years experience sourcing & procurement experience - delivering sourcing/buying services, strategic sourcing, supplier management, category management and compliance management, ideally on a multi country/global basis. 
  • Minimum of 10 years experience of working with supply market structures globally, including major suppliers, agencies, third party providers, major pricing strategies, cost structures, etc.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience working with senior management
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience of managing, leading and developing geographically dispersed resources.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Project management experience

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Professional Procurement Qualification (CPM, CIPS preferred)
  • Business Related Post Graduate Degree
  • Member of ISM, BME, CIPS, SHRM or other relevant procurement qualifications
  • Experience with integration, change management, and operational improvements.
  • Clear understanding of procurement processes and their interactions.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience of working with e-sourcing technology.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office IT packages - (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project).
  • Excellent written and oral language skills.
  • Experience developing categories and category offering for cross/multiple client use
  • Experience of working with e-sourcing technology.
  • Experience developing categories and category offering for cross/multiple client use
  • Experience in bidding and tendering processes and negotiating at a senior level.
  • Experience with contract development and contract management processes
  • Experience of managing, leading, and developing procurement professionals
