The Global Technology Manager will be stepping into a key technical role within this global manufacturer of advanced materials supplying a wide array of customers and markets. The Global Technology Manager will be supporting several manufacturing and R&D sites. Direct reports will include individual contributors, managers and supervisors who are highly skilled, multi disciplined technical leaders, scientists and engineers. The overall team will be a group of 60 with 5 direct reports. Travel internationally and domestically will be required in this technology role with expected travel to be 30%.
This Technology Manager role will require individuals highly educated and technically skilled in Chemical Manufacturing or Advanced Materials to be considered (composites, polymers, chemicals, ceramics, powder metal, other advanced materials)
In addition to expertise in formulation experience in Advanced Materials, the following are required to respond:
1. Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering Mandatory
2. 10+ years technical experience in new product research/development and launch, including process technologies, and Process Development
3. 5 years as a Manager, Director or similar technical leadership role having multiple locations with direct reports
4. Benchmark and Competitive evaluation experience within the industry.
5. Six Sigma experience, skills and capabilities
6. Demonstrated leadership accomplishments managing and growing large global teams of individuals, working with plant Leadership to develop new process technologies
7. Innovative, Creative technical accomplishments with patents and publications.
8. Strong ability to influence technical direction changes and process changes within the organization, and an entrepreneurial style not afraid of taking risks
9. International Experience in Asia and Europe
The Global Technology Manager will be managing several domestic and international sites with multiple Manager reports and high level technical contributors. Responsibilities will include working with global marketing, business development and customers to identify emerging markets and needs to grow new technology business and improve existing product lines.
Additional responsibilities will include creating the global division programs and portfolio, prioritizing the technical resources of the global team to optimize marketplace and profitability, drive the strategic capability and productivity to support growth and sustainability.
This role will be driving technical innovation for all next generation products though identifying industry trends and needs. They will work with Intellectual Property, Patent Strategy, managing external joint development or research programs, tracking chemical technology trends,
The Manager will work with the global business teams to align market goals, manufacturing objectives and technical capabilities. They will work with customers to understand needs, and identify market goals/objectives to translate needs into new products. For new product introductions, they will provide process technology troubleshooting and consulting to support global manufacturing and product technology.
The Manager will have P&L responsibility, building the creative talent for the organization, driving innovation, supporting global manufacturing and technology, influencing and leading a matrixed organization, and leverage resources to execute international projects, and provide overall technical strategic leadership.
