Job Title:                    Merchandiser

Reports to:                 Head Golf Professional

Supervises:                 Pro Shop Staff

FSLA Status:              Non Exempt – Professional

SUMMARY:

            Purchase for, market for and manage the counter and merchandise in the Golf Pro Shop.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

1.      In conjunction with Club Policies, purchase merchandise to keep the Pro Shop stocked with clothing, hard goods and other merchandise

2.      Maintain daily and weekly inventories for re-stocking orders as needed.  Conduct monthly inventory of all merchandise in conjunction with the Controller to maintain integrity of inventory levels.

3.      Establish, with the Head Golf Professional, policies and procedures for inventory control to eliminate/reduce shrinkage of merchandise.

4.      Work with Head Golf Professional to order supplies for the operation of the Shop, including but not limited to office supplies, price tags and merchandising displays.

5.      Maintains attractive, orderly appearance in pro shop

6.      Provides golf lessons to members and guests.

7.      Works Pro Shop counter, answering phones, taking tee times, dealing with walk in and phone traffic to the shop.

8.      Designs and conducts marketing programs for merchandise, such as special events and daily price reduction specials.

9.      Consults with the General Manager/Head Golf Professional about inventory management to provide high member satisfaction as it applies to variety and quantity of stocked/available merchandise.

10.  Attends national and sectional merchandise shows to encourage development and to enhance quality and image of the club

11.  Assists in supervising and inspecting design improvements and capital outlays to golf shop.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Membership in the PGA of America.  Must have teaching experience.  Must have Pro Shop Management experience, including vendor relationships and ordering responsibility.
