Grain Originator

Duties

·         Procure grain from target producer customers

·         Purchase 85 percent of growing feed mill’s corn needs from producer customers

·         Complete understanding of company grain policies and grain contracting alternatives with the ability to communicate the above with customers

·         Manage market price risk with the CBOT futures market

·         Monitor daily cash basis bids and report findings to the merchandiser

·         Spend 90 percent of time on the phone or visiting the producer’s farms discussing USDA reports, market conditions, and sales while ultimately building strong relationships

·         Work one on one with the merchandiser in originating grain from producers

·         Be responsible for bringing new ideas to the table

·         Able to obtain a series 3 license within the first year

Qualifications and Skills

·         Bachelors Degree in Business preferred

·         Agriculture  background preferred

·         Excellent communication skills and a very personable person

·         Self motivated team player

·         Well organized with excellent time management skills

·         Ability to think outside of the box and look ahead

·         Basic understanding of grain fundamentals and futures market
