Departmental Overview: 

 

The graphic design department works to strengthen the Extreme Music global brand through the corporate image and the image of its catalogue.  The department is made up of 3 designers (1 web, 2 print), and various freelancers and 3rd party design agencies.  An open approach has been taken to design with all graphics personnel communicating on projects whenever possible to achieve the very best content and packaging in our industry.

 

 
Role Specification

 

Role Objective:

 

To maintain and develop the Extreme Music brand; to create CD and DVD packaging, digital media and all corporate branding to the very highest standard.

 

Summary of Role Responsibilities:

 

This includes (but is not limited to) the following areas of responsibility:

 

Management of the Extreme Music Brand

 

  • Ensuring the Extreme Music catalogue is branded within laid out parameters and all product is easily recognised within the brand
  • Controlling the extreme music logos & ensuring they are being used within accepted parameters
  • Overseeing the content of the website

Working with Graphic & Web Designers to ensure quality of work  

 

  • Working alongside other designers to ensure work is proofed and is of the highest standard possible
  • Discussing alternative techniques, offering feedback or input to promote creativity in the department

Print design for CD & DVD packaging

 

  • Album cover design for the catalogue
  • DVD and special product design
  • New series design
  • Maintaining existing catalogue brands
  • Getting artwork print ready & discussing/confirming any special processes: working within the existing process to ensure printers are provided with all necessary files and run outs, etc.

Company literature, stationery & corporate identity

 

  • Creating and maintaining the corporate identity through business cards, letterheads etc.

Promotional items & advertisements for Extreme worldwide

 

  • Creating postcards, adverts etc. concepts for new promotional items, client gifts etc.
  • Branding any new promotional item the company sees fit.

 

Qualifications/ Experience

 

Essential

 

  • Educated to degree standard (design)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in graphic design

Desirable

 

  • 2 years agency experience

 

Skills/ Abilities

 

Essential

 

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of print processes, effects and technologies
  • Impeccable eye for detail both for trapping, colour matching & proofing
  • Ability to work effectively at a fast pace
  • Ability to produce effective new ideas with little or no brief
  • Artworking, Highly skilled in Photoshop, Photo manipulation
  • Skilled in Freehand and Illustrator

  • Excellent artworking, photo manipulation and retouching skills
  • Excellent illustrative ability
  • Excellent knowledge & interest in music & its genres
