Position Description:
The Group Lead, Material Handling is responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring all general warehouse functions. Supervises, trains, and monitors personnel and operations involving shipping and receiving of raw materials, manufactured products and distributed products.
Supervises and monitors all phases of the department which involve the receiving and shipping areas. Responsible for proper execution of procedures, techniques and documentation within the respective areas.
Supervises and coordinates the preparation of outbound shipments with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
Analyzes shipping methods and vendors to determine the most cost effective way to ship orders including company delivery to customers.
Handles department personnel functions (i.e. training of personnel). Delegate specific duties to others when appropriate while retaining overall responsibilities. Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to department personnel.
Maintains the completeness of all training records for the department.
Maintains adequate communication with the Supply Chain Manager and other departments including Quality Control and Shipping/ Receiving in order to help support company goals.
Assists in developing and updating departmental procedures.
Maintains accurate inventory records of raw materials, finished goods and distributed goods. This includes physical counts of items, shipment confirmation and receipt of goods.
Organizes and maintains the warehouse areas in a clean and orderly fashion for the efficient storage and retrieval of materials and goods.
Monitors warehouse space requirements and assist with maintaining proper warehouse utilization.
Capable of performing all job functions performed by all levels of the Material Handlers.
Other duties as directed by management.
Position Requirements:
BA or BS degree or equivalent work experience in similar industry.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and ISO 9001.
Knowledge of domestic and international shipping procedures, vendors and equipment.
Solid interpersonal abilities in order to establish effective working relationships.
Ability to select and move product with floor jack, hand truck and fork lift.
Concentration on task, mental alertness for accuracy and safety.
Detail oriented.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Superior analytical and organizational skills with ability to adapt in a changing environment.
Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
Computer knowledge and keyboard skills.
Strong leadership skills and ability to work well under pressure.
