MAJOR FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Professional position working at the direction of the Director of Human Resources and responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal, State and Local Employment and Safety laws and regulations. Responsible for recruiting, immigration, and training and development activities and for initiating, developing, and implementing policies and procedures to effectively administer, maintain and document various corporate employment and safety related programs.
PRIMARY DUTIES
As an example of some of the major responsibilities of the position:
Coordinates staffing (regular and temporary) for the region in cooperation with corporate recruitment personnel, including: screening, scheduling and follow-up and related activities with candidates, in addition to background processing and verification of employment.
Develops and implements programs and procedures to ensure site compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local safety and environmental regulations for each of the Company’s locations: overseeing the administration of Pace’s Environmental Health and Safety Program and developing; implementing safety and environmental training programs for current employees and newly hired personnel; analyzing, evaluating and addressing workplace hazards and accidents and workers’ comp requirements; and maintaining OSHA logs for all job sites.
Handles all immigration-related issues and work for the Americas and on behalf of the Company’s other business units in relation to employment in the Americas region.
Handles the development and maintenance of job descriptions for all personnel, working closely with employees and management to accurately capture roles’ activities/responsibilities.
Administers corporate Performance Management Plan.
Collaborates with the HR team to develop, recommend and implement corporate-wide HR programs.
Develops and conducts employee and management training and development activities.
Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with management personnel at all levels.
Handles special projects, as assigned.
Performs other work, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Extreme sensitivity to confidential matters is required.
Requires strong knowledge of current Federal, State and local employment regulations, laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders and agency rules.
Requires the ability to accurately interpret the above and develop and implement effective policies and procedures for compliance.
Requires strong knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the administration of Human Resources; including recruitment, training and development, immigration, safety and HRIS.
Requires the ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees, departments, and regions.
Requires the ability to interact professionally with other employees at all levels, as well as customers, TPAs and suppliers.
Excellent organizational, analytical, administrative and negotiation skills, verbal and written communication skills, and active listening skills are essential.
Superior attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups is beneficial.
Knowledge of and/or experience in employment in South America, particularly Brazil and Mexico, is preferred.
Must possess proactive problem-solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Oracle knowledge is beneficial.
Proficient at coordinating multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with minimum supervision.
The ability to work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments is essential
Bi-lingual (English/Portuguese) speaking and written communications is preferred.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL/VISUAL/HEARING ABILITIES
Ability to perform light lifting in the handling of work materials and equipment.
Requires visual skills necessary for reviewing a considerable amount of written materials, including regulatory requirements and case law, and for the accurate maintenance of personnel information and records.
Requires some domestic and international travel, which may require driving a variety of rental vehicles.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in Human Resources or related field is required.
Professional Certification (PHR) preferred.
Minimum of seven to ten years experience in a Generalist role of a fast-paced, high-tech environment, including at least five years as the sole or final authority on Health and Safety regulations/compliance.
Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
