Founded in 1919, Malt-O-Meal Company is privately held and headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Malt-O-Meal, the nation’s fourth largest cereal manufacturer, supplies a full line of branded cereals to all retail channels. The company currently produces ready-to-eat cereals, hot wheat cereals, and a full line of oatmeal products. The company operates production facilities in Minnesota, Utah, North Carolina and Iowa.  Various distribution centers supply the customer base throughout the United States.

 

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager this position will provide HR Generalist support for MOM Northfield Operations.  The position will primarily support the Operations and Distribution Center, and provide HR customer service to the managers in the activity of linking HR activity to the success and strength of the organization.  The position interfaces in all aspects of the organization, its customers and especially its employees.   Support, implement, and maintain food safety practices as required through SQF.  Will be responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety, food safety, quality, and environmental practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Staffing:

1.   Provide staffing support for Team Member and Salaried positions.  Will be involved in all aspects of the recruiting process to include sourcing candidates, participating in job fairs, phone screens, in-plant interviews, making job offers and coordinating start dates.

2.   Will be involved in evaluating and making recommendations to changes to our applicant screening process to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.

3.   Will be responsible for providing assistance with local Affirmative Action Plan.

4.   Provide assistance with yearly Hourly pay design survey for the Northfield campus.

5.   Provide assistance with local plant bidding process to Operations and Line Managers.

 

Employee Relations:

1.   Provide employee relations services to departments, teams, and individual employees. 

2.   Provide assistance and guidance to local plant management staff on the progressive discipline process.

3.   Provide management coaching and consultation in all areas of HR.

4.   Facilitate communication between management and employees and across departments.

5.   Provide general information to employees in regard to benefits, compensation, training, safety, and other specialty areas within HR.

6.   Partner with HR partners in specialists functions, including Benefits, Organizational Development and Leadership and Compensation.

 

Training:

1.   Manage local training implementation and schedule.

2.   Assist with the selection, coaching and development of operators to be plant trainers.

3.   Assist with assigning Trainers to new-hires for OJT.

4.   Manage skill verifications and local certifications.

5.   Provide direction to clerical staff on data entry of training records.

6.   Administer tuition reimbursement program for Northfield campus.

7.   Develop processes to ensure training records are audit ready for SQF audits and related audits.

Education and/or Experience

Education:

  • B.S. degree in Business, Management, Human Resources or other related field

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years relevant work experience within a large manufacturing plant
  • Nature of the position requires an individual who has organizational skills, an ability to perform a large variety of work, is a self-directed individual with sound decision making ability and judgment.
  • Strong PC skills required in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
