The New York Times Shared Services Center is the Business Solutions Provider for one of the world's premier media companies. Located in downtown Norfolk, Virginia, the SSC is a centralized facility for streamlining many of the Company's core processes in Benefits, Finance, Strategic Sourcing & Contracts, and Information Technology.
Responsibilities
-Responsible for accurately maintaining and processing HR/Payroll related information for The New York Times Company business units using PeopleSoft.
-Function as point of contact for problem resolution, data integrity and file maintenance.
-Provide support, direction and training to an HR Assistant in all areas of responsibility.
-Oversee HRIS/Payroll processing for expatriates. Coordinate with external payroll source and European office.
-Provide maintenance and support of the time and attendance processing and reconciliation for select business units that run either weekly, biweekly and monthly payrolls.
-Maintain and be accountable for all HR records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley.
-Analyze and create reports/queries for business units, employees and external vendors as required.
-Analyze and review all HR and time and attendance transactions to ensure compliance with union contract (s).
-Process mortgage and employment verifications for the business units accurately and in a timely manner.
-Ensure conformity with established data integrity standards.
-Analyze data changes made in PeopleSoft and ensure a comprehensive understanding of how these changes impact payroll, benefits and reporting.
-Provide data entry training to Business Units as needed to ensure adherence to integrity standards.
-Establish standard procedures, workflow and dates for the business units to ensure timely and accurate payroll/benefit processing.
-Maintain and report related processing metrics such as number of transactions and verifications processed.
-Assist in the training of business unit personnel and review of company-wide data integrity reporting to ensure adherence to established standards.
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
-Intermediate level proficiency in desktop software such as MS Office tools (Word, Excel), Lotus Notes, Explorer. Proficiency in the use of HRMS relational database(s) required.
-PeopleSoft HRMS experience preferred.
Education or Certifications:
-Associates degree in HR, IT or Business required.
-Bachelor's degree in HR, Business related preferred.
Work Experience: 3+years HR/Payroll administration experience in a progressive business required.
