Key Responsibilities


The Director of Human Resources is the lead HR position for the company reporting to the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.  The Director will support the senior executive team and provide guidance and leadership on all employee matters for the entire company.  The Director will be looked upon to proactively evaluate the current culture and work environment and independently provide creative ideas and solutions for improvement.  In addition, the candidate must have practical, hands-on experience in a unionized environment including contract negotiations, grievance administration, and relationship management.  In this role, the Director will be responsible for all the HR generalist functions including:


 



  • Salary and benefits administration
  • Employee risk management
  • Recruitment and retention
  • Organizational development
  • Regulatory and legal compliance

 


 


Qualifications



  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in HR
  • Experience in a consumer products manufacturing and sales organization, preferably  in multi-site environments
  • Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently, work proactively, think creatively, collaborate across functions, and achieve results
  • Strong analytical skills to understand and communicate the financial impact of HR decisions
  • Exhibits and champions excellence in work and a willingness to embrace change and improve processes and systems
  • Ability to establish credibility with managers and employees through detailed knowledge of the business and effectively consult one-on-one with peers
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, strong negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to identify and handle sensitive issues with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to make large group presentations
  • Bachelor’s degree required
