POSITION SUMMARY:      Know and apply engineering principles to develop electronic components for diesel engine control applications.  This includes the development of concepts to improve operation of engines, components and software and the analysis of associated technical problems. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

·          Supporting execution of cost-effective automotive electronic product designs suitable for volume manufacture within agreed timing, cost and quality targets.

·          Performing design activities including (but not limited to): requirements capture, specification writing, circuit design and analysis, component selection, DFMEA, reliability analysis, prototype builds, development and validation testing, test and engineering report writing, and documentation.

·          Day-to-day co-ordination with other design team members, including Hardware, Mechanical and Software, and liaison, where required, with outsourced Validation and Manufacturing partners.

·          Interfacing with the customer’s engineering team where required.

·          Ensuring that design tasks are executed in accordance with internal and customer quality/process requirements to achieve clean product launches.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

·          BS or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Physics or related field.

·          2-5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing or engineering.

·          Minimum of 1 year experience of automotive electronics design experienced gained with either a Tier 1 or OEM would be advantageous

·          Minimum of 1 year experience of working with automotive quality systems (TS16949 and QS9000 would be an asset

·          Analytical and problem solving skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

This position may involve visiting areas where the employee will be exposed to diesel engine fumes, fuel, flames, oil fumes, noise, dirt, vibration, heat and occasionally cold.  Domestic or foreign travel may be necessary in order to visit customers or suppliers, attend technical meetings, meet with contractors, make presentations and supervise test work.  Employee may spend extensive time using a computer.  It may occasionally be necessary to ride in a truck, boat, combat vehicle or other machine to evaluate engine operation.
