US-NJ-Hardware / Firmware Design and Project Mgmt Engineer
Distek, Inc., a rapidly growing leader in the scientific instrumentation field, located in North Brunswick, New Jersey, is currently seeking a Hardware / Firmware Design and Project Management Engineer to develop highly sophisticated electro – mechanical laboratory instruments for the pharmaceutical field.
The main responsibilities of the position will be:
· Developing project parameters and managing design projects to ensure timeliness of design phase, efficient manufacturing and assembly, low cost and high reliability
· Coordinating and monitoring efforts of engineers on project
· Developing program specifications for new systems
· Participating in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining complex software applications
· Participating in the resolution of problems in existing instruments
· Writing application modules/subroutines and drivers
· Performing the development of software test requirements for systems under development, developing and executing complex automated test suites
· Maintaining, revising, and updating current code: including troubleshooting, fixing bugs and improving system functionality
The qualified candidate must have:
· BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or other related disciplines
· Minimum 5 years of experience in software / hardware design
· Certification or training in project management and a minimum of 2 years of project management responsibility for design projects
· Knowledge of PC architecture,, MS Windows (NT, 2000 and XP)
· Experience with user interface design and RS-232 protocols
· C/C++ (Borland and/or Microsoft), assembly, and Visual Basic
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work well in a team environment
· Proven leadership ability in working with a multi-disciplined team and strong supervisory skills
· Ability to manage and participate in multiple projects simultaneously
· Strong self-motivation, be independent, and require minimal supervision
· Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills
The following are desirable but not necessary:
· Experience with circuit design, embedded microprocessor programming, embedded PC development, Linux, DC motors and power supplies knowledge a plus
· The ability to prototype and debug complex microprocessor based systems
· Knowledge of PCB CAD
· Experience working within ISO 9001 regulations and environment
