Job Description:

Requirements: BSEE, BSCE, or equivalent experience

This position requires strong background in HARDWARE development and test. The candidate will develop software and hardware utilized in production line testing and/or engineering verification for circuit cards (board level) and subsystems (box level) for various electronic products.  In this position a large portion of your efforts will be concentrated on developing software that will control automatic test equipment (ATE).  The ATE will be used in testing our customer’s product.  Efforts may involve developing test sets for components utilized in:

·         Control Systems for Mass transportation systems (subways, railroads, buses, etc)

·         Command and Telemetry systems for commercial and military satellites

·         Industrial Automation and Control Systems

·         Various electronic systems for commercial aircraft

·         Military avionics applications

o   Targeting Systems

o   Navigation Systems

·         Military weapons applications

o   Guidance Systems

o   FLIR electronics

The work involves digital, analog, hybrid, and RF circuits.  Engineers must have the ability to:

·         Evaluate schematics and specifications

·         Evaluate and/or generate Test Requirements

·         Formulate a test plan

·         Design Test Station Hardware (Variety of custom or off the shelf systems)

·         Design Test Station Software

·         Design Software to test the actual product or Unit Under Test (UUT)

·         Integrate all of the above

·         Prepare various reviews and CDRL items

·         Perform professional presentations in front of the customer

A variety of custom and commercial test platforms may be used in each development effort.  Some of the commercial equipment that is utilized includes National Instruments PXI based test systems, Teradyne M-Series, Teradyne Spectrum Series, Teradyne L-Series, HP/Agilent-3070, and GenRad test systems. 

Custom system development normally involves PXI, VXI, IEEE, or VME based systems. 

Custom software may be developed in National Instruments Lab Windows CVI, Lab View, VB, C, or various other packages depending on our customers’ exact requirements.  Skills that you may have related to any of the above would be very helpful. 

All positions require travel.  GEMS is currently doing business in several different states and countries.  For many of our current contracts engineers sometimes have to spend 50% of their time on travel to customer sites.
